Heute Morgen nach dem Aufruf zum Gebet des Muezzins um 6 Uhr bin ich nochmals eingeschlafen und erst um 8 Uhr wieder erwacht. Da ich heute eine längere Reise vor mir hatte, stand ich gleich auf, bereitete mir einen Tee zu und machte mich reisefertig. Ich verabschiedete mich von Kamal, der gerade aufgestanden war und um 9 Uhr trat ich die Reise Richtung Süden an...

This morning after the call for prayer of the muezzin at 6 am I went back to sleep until 8 am. As I had planned quite a bit of a journey today, I got up immediately, prepared some tea and made myself ready for departure. I said goodbye to Kamal who just came had woken up and at 9 am I took the road direction south...

Es war in Rabat bereits 20 Grad als ich wegfuhr, ein wunderschöner Tag mit sehr wenig Verkehr auf den Strassen, so dass ich gut vorankam. Ich hielt nur zum tanken, den Toilettengang, einen doppelten Espresso, herrliches marokkanisches Frühstücksgebäck für unterwegs und Kauf von Arganöl vor Essaouira... 500 km und 5 1/2 Std. später kam ich in Essaouira bei 28 Grad an: 400 km Autobahn und die letzten 100 km waren auf der 4-spurigen Schnellstraße.

When I took off it was already 20 centigrade in Rabat, a wonderful day with almost no traffic on the roads, so that I moved fast! I only stopped to fuel up, go to the loo, have an espresso, get some of the delicious breakfast rolls for on the way and Argan oil just before Essaouira... 500 km and 5 1/2 hours later I arrived at Essaouira with 28 centigrade: 400 km on the highway and the last 100 km on a 4-lane expressway.

Ich hatte vor diesmal ein Hotel am Strand zu suchen (die vielen andere Male die ich in meinem Lieblingsstädtchen Marokkos verweilte war ich stets in einem Riad in der Medina abgestiegen) und das 3. Hotel, das ich mir anschaute, war das Miramar (www.miramaressaouira.com) mit Zimmer mit Meersicht, Parkplatz vor dem Haus, Hammam, Sauna und Massage... und das für EUR 50 - klar schlug ich zu und mietete das hübsche Zimmer gleich für 4 Nächte!

This time I intended to look for a hotel on the beach (as the many times I stayed here in my favourite town of Morocco I always took a room in a riad in the medina) and the 3rd Hotel I had a closer look was the Miramar (www.miramaressaouira.com) with ocean view rooms, parking in front of the hotel, hammam, sauna and massage... and this for EUR 50 - of course I took the chance and rented the pretty room for 4 nights!

Ich richtete mich kurz ein und machte mich darauf gleich auf den 5 minütigen Fußweg der Strandpromenade entlang zur Medina. Zuerst gab es einen frisch gepressten Grapefruitsaft am Hafen und dann suchte ich schnurstracks meinen Lieblingsschuhladen auf… und erstand 5 Paar Schuhe!

I made myself at home quickly and thereafter took the 5-minutes promenade along the beach to the medina. First I had a fresh squeezed grapefruit juice at the harbour and then I marched straight up to my favourite shoe shop… and I bought 5 pairs!

Auf dem Rückweg zum Hotel um eine schnelle Dusche zu nehmen, bewunderte ich den Sonnenuntergang auf der Festung... einfach grandios wie immer!

On the way back to the hotel to have a quick shower I enjoyed the sunset on the fortress… just gorgeous like always!

An der Reception fragte ich Adil nach einem guten Fischrestaurant und er empfahl mir das Le Chalet de la Plage, wo ich als erster Gast hungrig aber eben schon um 19 Uhr eintraf... Für EUR 30 gab es das Menü auf dem Foto inklusive lustige Kellner und Tischnachbarn! War das ein Festschmaus!!!

I asked Adil from the reception if he could suggest a nice fish restaurant and he sent me to the Le Chalet de la Plage, where I reached the restaurant hungrily as the first guest but already at 7 pm… For EUR 30 I could choose from the menu you can see on the photo including funny waiters and guests! What a feast it was!!!

Zum Verdauen spazierte ich durch die Medina um meine 5 Paar Schuhe zu bezahlen und abzuholen und meine alten Paar zum Reparieren abzugeben... Danach suchte ich meinen Freund Nico in seinem Atelier auf und wir hatten uns natürlich viel zu erzählen!

Todmüde viel ich ins Bett und schlief bei Meeresrauschen selig ein...

To digest I took a walk through the medina to pay and pick up my 5 pairs of shoes as well as bring my old pair to have them repaired… Thereafter I paid a visit to my friend Nico in his atelier and of course we had to exchange a lot!

Very tired I fell into bed and to sleep peacefully with the sound of the ocean…
